On Thursday, May 25, Penfield Montessori hosted the Young Athletes Special Olympics from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. The event took place in the gymnasium and allowed children of all abilities to participate in a variety of athletic activities such as walking on a balance beam, jumping into a foam pit, running and jumping through obstacle courses, crawling through tunnels, tossing bean bags and much more!  All children, staff and volunteers received a Young Athletes t-shirt, donated by Special Olympics.

The Young Athletes Special Olympics program helps children develop motor skills and promotes social, emotional and learning skills. It also introduces children to a variety of sports in an accepting, inclusive environment.
